Cross-Country Skiing
Skate skiing, classic, and touring, it’s all good.
Just
a mile and half from Hyatt Escala Lodge is the White Pine Nordic Center, with
20 kilometers of track set daily for skate skiing and classic cross-country styles.
White Pine also has equipment rental and lessons to make participation as easy
as possible. Park City also has a cross-country track maintained by the Mountain
Trails Foundation in Round Valley, where you are welcome to have your dogs run
alongside.
And for those that want even more variety, about 20 minutes away in Midway, is the cross-country skiing track at Soldier Hollow, where the 2002 Olympic Events were held.
You don’t have to be an Olympian or even a stellar athlete to enjoy cross-country skiing, however. It’s fun, it’s easy, and it is a great way to entertain yourself outdoors if you want a break from the slopes and the crowds. It is easy for kids to learn too. So, if you’re looking for a little spice of variety, try cross-country skiing. You’ll be glad you did.
It is easy to learn.
While alpine skiing and snowboarding can take some time to learn, you can learn to cross-country ski in about an hour. The professional instructors at White Pine Touring can have you out and enjoying it with a smile on your face in no time at all. Contact the White Pine Nordic Center at: (435) 649-6249. Or their retail store at: (435) 649-8710.
