Hiking
More than a walk in the park.
Most of the trails around Park City that are used for mountain biking work equally well for hikers. The reason for this is simple: many of the trails started as paths created by the miners to get from one mine to the other, or from the mines back to town at the end of their shift.
All of those trails make for a great variety of hiking, but they can sometimes be confusing. Fortunately there are several guidebooks, one of which even has a flower guide attached with it, Park City Prime Cuts Two. Mountain Trails Foundation also creates a map each year of the primary trails in the area. Both the book and the map are available at Dolly’s Bookstore, 19 Sports, Jan’s Mountain Outfitters, Cole Sport, and White Pine.
Guided Hikes: To avoid lions, and tigers, and bears.
Actually we don’t have any tigers in town, but we do have lots of moose, and some deer and some elk. It is certainly nice to hike the trails on your own, but if you like to get deeper into the woods in the wilderness with the help of a guide, contact White Pine Touring at (435) 649-8710. They’ll promise to take you to places you’d never venture on your own, and bring you back with a smile on your face.
