From a Ghost Town to an Olympic Town
With a $9.5 million renovation to show how it happened
Park
City was once mentioned in a book about ghost towns of the American West. As
the fortunes of the silver mining business that gave Park City its start began
to wane, the city fathers of the day looked to another natural resource to help
save the town – The Greatest Snow on Earth.
In October 2009, The Park City Historical Society proudly unveiled a $9.5 million renovation of the Park City Museum. Complete with interactive exhibits and built to the extraordinary standards of the Smithsonian Institute museum guidelines, the Park City Museum is a great place to spend the day for adult history buffs and kids who just like cool stuff.
The Utah Museum of Fine Art is located on the campus of the University of Utah, about a 30 minute drive from Hyatt Escala Lodge. UMFA hosts impressive permanent and rotating exhibits ranging from the art of European masters to artifacts from Native American tribes. The collections are very different from those at the Park City Museum, and are more extensive than can be viewed in a day or two. For more information, contact (801) xxx-xxxx.
